A typical Thursday evening. I was at office packing my thing up in a whiff. My manager noticed it and asked me, “Where are you heading in such hurry?” Without giving it a second thought I said, “Lollapalooza!” And there was a burst of laughter in my bay.
Dictionary definition:
lollapaloozaˌlɒləpəˈluːzə/nounINFORMAL•NORTH AMERICAN.
A person or thing that is particularly impressive or attractive.”
Thought to myself that its an intriguing name . Lets Visit.
Located on the top floor of rather famous, Kunal Icon, Pimple Saudagar, the ambience impressive and I was exhilarated the moment I entered the front door. The rooftop consists of 3 different options,
1) Bay leaf bistro
2) Magnum Opus
3) Lollapalooza
We opted for the later.
Following is the summary of delicacies we devoured.
Started with some drinks
1) Twisty Tangerine
2) Penalise
3) Musical Beats
4) Orange Martini – recommended
Soups
Tom Yum Prawns: Known to boost the immune system and help fight off cold and flu viruses, it definetly lived up to the name. Spicy, Zingy taste which not only provided the required warmth but opened the gates for the next feast. A good start I would say. –recommended
Gosht Adraki Shorba: I was so delighted by the Tom Yum that I preferred it over this one. Kashmiri style broth or soup cooked with meat, and very mildly spiced with whole spices.
Appetisers
Caribbean Grilled Fish Fingers: Perfect Golden Fish Fries. Crispy on outside and tender inside, I liked this dish. Perfect finger food.
Crispy Corn Salt n Pepper: The rule is simple, if you want to see me happy, hand me a pint and serve me a corn dish. Both the things were available here and I was delighted. – recommended
Mains
Murgh Musallam with Basmati Rice: Mughlai dish consisted of a chicken marinated in a ginger-garlic gravy. Stuffed with boiled eggs and seasoned with spices like saffron, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom and chilli. –recommended
Thai Curry with Steamed Rice: To be honest I’ve never been a fan of Thai Curry, I was intrigued by the aroma. First bite in and again the same old thought. I opted to stick with Murgh Musallam.
Desserts
Sizzling Brownie and Death by Chocolate: Lack of sizzle and crunchy texture of the ‘death by chocolate’. The brownie was served with a dollop of Ice-Cream and death by chocolate was served in a wine glass. Due suggestions were passed on to the staff and the chef and I hope to see a better version of these the next time I visit.
Final Thoughts
Overall Lollapalooza positive points are lively ambience, dance floor, DJ playing latest chart busters, huts arranged for large groups and the central bar counter makes it an excellent choice for team outings and get together. The Food is above average and drinks are piquant.
